As a construction manager for the past 20 years, I’ve managed many projects across Canada, primarily in the forest industry. For the last 12 months, I have been retained by Western Forest Products for a series of projects at Duke Point and Saltair Sawmills. Throughout these projects, I’ve had the pleasure to work with a civil/mechanical contractor that I feel deserves recognition, and my recommendation, to others in the Project Management industry. RDC Projects Ltd. is an Island-based company that I find, has uniquely tailored its business to meet the increasing demands of structured industrial projects. Their trade’s people are skilled in all aspects of civil as well as mechanical installation, and they show up with the tools and equipment to perform the work. When faced with shut-down work that has required doubling or tripling the workforce, they never failed to provide the right people and quality supervision. Their safety record has been exceptional, with no lost time incidents and very few record-able incidents. This can be attributed to the safety standards they’ve set for themselves, job planning and risk assessments for all crew is a daily occurrence. Another aspect crucial to a successful project is accurate scheduling and budgeting, and here too RDC has not let me down. Their attention to detail and work experience has been very evident. Between 2012-2013 Saltair and 2015-2016 Saltair/Duke Point, project values have well exceeded $50M. If a future project presents itself to you, I seriously recommend you consider these people as a potential candidate. I would personally look forward to working with them again.
